Obituary of COLLIS RICARDO SMALL

In loving memory of Collis Ricardo Small.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce the passing of Collis Small on Monday, September 24th, 2018, after his body finally succumbed to the stress of his illnesses.  He was a kind, compassionate and caring person and will be truly missed by those who are left behind to mourn his passing.  He is survived by his wife, children, mother, father, grandmother, siblings and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. 

Collis was born on the beautiful island of Barbados, but spent the majority of his life in Ottawa, Canada. He moved to Fort McMurray 9 years ago for work, and just as in Ottawa, he made a huge network of friends, while still maintaining his Ottawa friendships. Collis has many friends going all the way back to early childhood in Barbados that he kept in regular contact. He was a true friend and was always ready to listen or share his advice and wisdom. Overall, he was just the kind of guy that people couldn’t help but love and respect. 

Collis loved cars, bikes and any type of machinery. He drove a garbage truck for many years before switching over to heavy hauling. He was an amazing cook and wasn’t too humble to admit that.  He had an awesome sense of humour.  He was a handy man who always found some ingenious way of fixing things. He loved the discovery channel and was always thirsty for knowledge and about the way things worked.  Most of all, Collis was a family man to the core. He did everything to make sure each member of his family was always loved and taken care of and we could not have asked for anyone better.  We are all left with a huge hole in our lives that nothing and no one will ever be able to fill. His body is physically gone but his beautiful spirit will live on in our hearts forever.  

There will be a gathering held at Robert Anderson Funeral Services, 115-190 MacAlpine Crescent, Fort McMurray, on Sunday, September 30th, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for anyone who would like to see Collis one last time to say goodbye.  He will then be taken to Ottawa for a service and burial where his family members will convene.

Thank you all for the love you have shown Collis. It’s nice to know that he will be so greatly missed.
