Obituary of Deena Joanne Ramsay
Please share a memory of Deena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness and a loss of great magnitude, the family of Deena share the news of her passing on April 10, 2020, at the age of 57.
Deena is survived by her loving husband Edward; her sister Millicent (Danny); her brother Lloyd (Carol); her children Kelly (Darcy), Christopher (Cheryl), Jennifer (Travis), Mason (Sara) and Matthew; her grandchildren Kyrie-Lee (Joel), Alexander, Parker, Reid, Danica and Macie; her great-grandchild Everly; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Deena was born in Happy Valley Goose Bay, Labrador; a place she remembered fondly and grew up with 2 sisters (Elsie and Millicent) and 6 brothers (Robert, Lloyd, Fred, Halden, Bernie and Patrick). Deena called Fort McMurray, Alberta home for many of her adult years where she lived and raised her children.
Deena had a real spark for life. She will be remembered fondly for her bright smile, sense of humour and the love and kindness she easily shared. She embodied many roles with great love and care; wife, mother, sister, grandmother and best friend. She could always be counted on to be there to celebrate in all of the joys and support through hard times; give advice, words of wisdom and encouragement. We are all better for having her in our lives.
Deena took on whatever she was doing whole-heartedly, with love, and attention to detail. This included renovating, hobbies such as crafting, cooking, antiquing, reading, decorating, but most important celebrating holidays and gathering her family and friends.
She believed when a person passed on, their soul remained with their loved ones to guide them through life, to share in their joys, to remind them how much they are loved, and to keep a protective watch over them. Deena has left a big hole in so many hearts. She was loved and cherished beyond imagination and we know that she will be there with us while we learn how to take steps forward without her here on earth. Her legacy will be the magnitude of her love rippled out from her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and her many friends.
We love you to the moon and back.
She wished us to share a parting message through the song ‘When I Get Where I’m Going’ by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.
Deena’s family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care shown to her by the staff at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
