Obituary of Caelan Ross Brake

Caelan Ross Brake, died on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Skeleton Lake Alberta at the age of 14. Born on May 31, 2005, in Fort McMurray to beloved parents Aloysius (Al) Brake and Suzanne Smith-Brake, Caelan was fondly called the little professor for his love of books, knowledge and his brilliant mind. Caelan had a love for all things Scottish and was an amazing Highland dancer who danced around the world from Florida to Scotland and Paris. Caelan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, cooking and everything outdoors. Caelan’s sense of humor was second to none. He had a general love for performing and enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with his family at their happy place at the lake. Caelan was a grade 9 student at Holy Trinity High school in Fort McMurray. Caelan is survived by his parents, Al and Suzanne; his brothers, Stephen, Cameron and Lochlan and sister Isla Jean; His maternal grandfather John (Jackie) Smith and His paternal grandmother Mary (Nellie) Brake, his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and huge extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Robert Anderson Funeral Home in Fort McMurray. Cremation will take place prior to service and his ashes will join his maternal grandmother (Granny) Jean Smith at a later date in Scotland. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private Funeral service will be held for the family. Those wishing to pay their respects can do so a reception after the family service. Date of reception will be announced shortly. A reception for those wishing to pay their respects to The family of Caelan Brake will be held at 282 Berens Place from 4:30 to 7 pm on May 31st. A service will be held earlier in the day for the family. Due to Covid restrictions this will be a drop in/out reception so that we can maintain the social distancing requirements.
