Obituary
Obituary of Lillian Patricia Spearing
Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Lillian Patricia Spearing, age 74 years. Lillian will be reunited with her parents, Malcolm and Jean Stone, her loving husband, Michael, and brothers Denley and Peter Stone. She will forever be remembered by her children Valerie Walters (Darrin), Genny Spearing (Rob Hoban), Elizabeth Power (Sheldon), Vincent Stone (Marie); Brothers Reg Stone (Ann) and Leonard Stone; Sister Barbara Rumbolt; sister-in-law Annette Stone; Grandchildren Heather (Jarrod), Christa (Ryan), Samantha (Dave), Robert, Travis, Gerald, Justin and Grace. Great-grandchildren Jordan, Jemma and Jessica. Special family friends Irene Myles and Darren Morgan.
Lillian grew up in coastal Labrador, where people lived off of the land and sea. She was very proud of her heritage. She learned to knit, sew, cook and preserve food but most of all, she loved to teach others. She spent many years working in the homecare field, where her heart was dedicated to caring for others in need. Anyone who knew Lillian also knew her love for a good game of cards; it didn't matter the time of day or who she played with; she enjoyed them all. Some of our fondest memories as children include Sunday afternoon card games. Mom's true love was her family and her role as a mother and grandmother; the more time we spent together, the happier she was. Being with her family was what she enjoyed most of all. Those who had the privilege of knowing her were somehow touched by her kind and generous soul. Although the last few years presented some health challenges, her family remained her focus and the source of her strength. We are grateful for all the wonderful memories. Her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and a service will be held at an upcoming date. A service will also be held in Newfoundland, where Lillian will be laid at her final resting place.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all Northern Lights Regional Health Centre staff. Flowers are graciously accepted by the family, or donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Our lives go on without you
But nothing is the same
We have to hide our heartache
When someone speaks your name.
Sad are the hearts that love you
Silent are the tears that fall
Living here without you
Is the hardest part of all
You did so many things for us
Your heart was kind and true
And when we needed someone
We could always count on you
The special years will not return
When we are all together
But with the love in our hearts
You walk with us forever.
