Dear Anne, our sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved husband. Wayne and yourself are True pillars of our community! Wonderful people you are and Wayne was! Unfortunately we were unable to attend his celebration of life today although our thoughts were with you. I always loved going to Chows Confectionery over the years! I will always have fond memories of Wayne calling me Mrs. Peter whenever he saw me! He always took time to chat with Peter whenever they crossed paths. You and your family take care now. Treasure the good memories, cherish the moments! Hugs! I am also attaching a couple of photos taken at Peter’s Moms 90 Birthday Celebration.

I met Wayne when I was three years old! Or, at least that’s what he used to remind me. That was 1959 when they first moved to ‘McMurray’. Val & I just walked past Wayne and Anne’s house on Woodward Lane as we recently returned to Fort McMurray from wintering in Mesa. Going walking around on our loop of greenbelt areas, we always enjoyed seeing Wayne and Anne in the yard, and if present, we called out to chat and admire their flowers. Wayne was very close to our family and when I was young, my grandparents – Walter & Gladys Hill, or my dad Ken (Billy as known to Wayne), would take me next door from the old Hill Drugs store, to Wayne’s café in the Oil Sands Hotel and treat me to an ice cream. Wayne and Anne were always so, so kind to my sister and I, and would give us ‘special’ attention (at least that is what we thought, although they cared for everyone like that). Later as kids, we often went to their Chow’s Varieties shop, across Franklin Ave from the drugstore, to see all the neat candies – a better selection than what our store sold. Lorraine and Colin, your dad was the nicest man, and one I always looked up to. We will all miss him.

Q: What will you never forget about Wing (Wayne)?
A: I will always remember Wing Chow with fond memories. I worked for Wing at the Confectionary Store. He was a pleasant, fair and considerate
gentleman and boss. In fact probably one of the nicest people that I ever worked for. I recall working for Wing and his lovely wife, it was Christmas and Wing gave me a pretty silver cigarette Lighter for Christmas, (which I still have). He told me that I was his best Employee. I was young and vulnerable. I often thought of that through the years, when I was going through my own personal issues. Mr.Wing Chow never knew what a positive influence he had on my future. He believed in me.

It's with heavy heart that Sylvainne and myself send our deepest condolences to Anne and all of the Chow family.
When we bought the Chow's Varieties store over 30 years ago, we never imagined we'd be here this long. Wayne and Anne wanted to go golfing more often and we wanted to start our own business.
What I'll miss most about Wayne is all the stories he told. He always had a story to tell about the old days. Our son still remembers Wayne calling him smiley. For this we thank you and for being so kind to us all these years.
We will miss you my friend.

My first job in Canada was at Chow,s convenience store and I loved working there. Wayne and the family were so good to me they treated me like family. Wayne had a great sense of humour and I loved how he used to call me Susie with a chuckle. My condolences to Anne Lorraine Colin and all Wayne’s family at this sad time.

Whether as a businessman, or husband and father, Wayne was well respected and was a pillar of the community. I wish to pass on my condolences to the family especially Mrs. Chow and my schoolmate Lorraine.

My fist job was working in Chows convenience store. Working for Wayne after school. He taught me to greet customers as shy as I was. He tough me how to count change and that I understand how to give the correct change. Wayne always was happy to see me years after. Always reminded me of that. Wayne was funny,, always a special man that I always so respected.♥️

Condolences my friend Lorraine and family in the loss of your daddy I'm sure he has left a great hole and everyone's heart.
What is the first time I enjoyed Wayne's company was at Gregoir lake we were out at the beach for the day(1985) Lorraine and we're so happy as he came out with his wife with his big gas fired wok and lovingly cooked us best pork stir fry I probably ever had. Your dad did it right he got over 20 years of golf in full time not many people can plan that well it may come from your friend Lisa.
