John was a great mentor to me about living and working in a northern community. His knowledge and experience of almost everything helped make what seemed like a impossible task an everyday reality.
My deepest condolences for John's family and friends. So very sorry. I remember John always gave us, his visiting coworkers, a tour of Fort Chipewyan, the community that he's so pound of and loved.

I worked with John and was told lots about Fort Chipewyan.
I first met John when he interviewed me for a maintenance position. I immediately liked John; he treated me with great kindness and respect all the years I worked with him. I remember how he would make the extra effort to come to see me when he visited High Level. John would go out of his way to share his life with me and be forever missed.
Johnny was a man of bravery and courage. Even when faced with death, he good humouredly agreed to compose his own eulogy-which he didn’t in the end! So sad that he is gone. But he really isn’t. His spirit lives on.
