Obituary of Brenda Marlene Wright

Brenda was born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary. She had been proud to call Fort McMurrary home for the past 32 years where she worked at Syncrude as a geologist and progressed through many more roles before retiring in 2012.

Brenda is predeceased by her father George Wright, mother Gladys Fraser and step-father George Fraser. She leaves behind her husband, Gord Livingstone, daughter, Danielle Livingstone, Step mom Marilyn along with a large extended family of siblings, step siblings, nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Brenda was a motivated and intelligent woman who meant a great deal to a great many people. She inspired those in both her professional and personal life through her unwavering support and enthusiasm. She was a community leader, and a professional. She was a Council Member with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, a Past President of the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists, a pioneer in oil sands geology and received the Outstanding Mentorship Summit Award from APEGA. Brenda was the kind of person who would lend an ear and offer advice to any individual under any circumstance. Brenda always took the time to be a confidant and mentor to any who asked it of her, she had a gift for passing on wisdom and guidance.

Anyone who knew Brenda would attest to all that she brought into the lives of those around her, she will be dearly missed.

It was Brendas’ wish that no funeral be held for her.  A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and Homecare for providing exceptional care, comfort and support to Brenda and her family during such a difficult time.
