Julie, Mike, and the Binns Family, I was deeply sadden to hear about the passing of John. Please accept my sincere condolences as you move forward through this difficult time.
I had the honour and privilege to meet John in the early eighties and in 1992 he became my Leader, Mentor, and Friend when I joined the Syncrude Emergency Services Department under his tutelage. John’s support, wisdom, and mentorship was instrumental in my career development as an Emergency Services First Responder.
While John took his roles and responsibilities as Emergency Coordinator very serious, it was not beneath him to partake in, and in some cases instigate, a little workplace humour or practical joke. The fun filled escapades and pranks, usually at the expense of each other, over the years between Brian S., John, and I were numerous; and I’m sure I could fill a book.
John positively impacted the lives of many; as I know he left a profound impact on me for which I shall be forever grateful!
