Obituary of Oliver Roy Heath
Oliver Roy Heath
1964 – 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Oliver Heath, announce his passing on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 59.
While Oliver is now resting in the arms of Jesus, he will deeply be missed and mourned with fond and loving memories by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Juanita (nee Jones), son Jonathan (Ashley), daughter Megan (Zachary), mother Annie, brothers Reg (Nancy), Morris (Louise), Murton (Judy), Bryce (Jackie), Dennis (Brenda), Alonzo (Susan), sister Trudy (Howard), grandchildren Brinley, Treyton, Valley, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Oliver was predeceased by his father, Charlie Heath.
Oliver was born in Roberts Arm, NL, on February 2, 1964, to the parents Charlie and Annie Heath.
In 1980, while working a summer job in Little Bay Islands as a young teenager, Oliver met the love of his life, a young, beautiful teenage girl by the name of Juanita Jones. Shortly thereafter, Juanita decided to relocate to Fort McMurray and Oliver pursued a year later. As a testament to their love, Oliver and Juanita married on June 4, 1983.
In 1983, Oliver worked as a Security Officer on the Syncrude Site and in July, 1986, he commenced his career with Syncrude, first as a Heavy Equipment Operator and subsequently as a Process Operator, where he excelled in his position. For a period of time, Oliver also served as a member of Syncrude’s Volunteer Fire Brigade and he did it courageously with pride and commitment.
Oliver was a caring and loving husband, devoted father, cherished son and brother, an amazing ‘Grampy’, and proud of his Christian values. His love for his family, friends, and God was displayed each and every day.
He was a proud grandfather (Grampy), who adored and treasured his grandchildren. Whether on play dates, taking them to or from school, or going out for breakfast at their favorite restaurant, he valued quality time with his grandchildren.
Oliver enjoyed spending time with Juanita and his family members. One of his greatest vacations was a cruise to the Caribbean with Juanita and their children. He also cherished time camping at Baptiste Lake, where family and friends were always welcomed. He loved to drive and display his Trans Am Convertible and venture on many a road trip with it. When in town, one would often see him driving around on a nice summer day with the top down and in the company of either Juanita or one of his children/grandchildren, sipping a Tim’s coffee.
Oliver loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, taking the quad for a ride, or simply having a boil up, especially with friends. His boil ups were something to be revered, for his culinary skills were superb. This can be attested by many a family member, friend, or co-worker who had the opportunity to partake in the feast(s) he provided at home or at work.
Oliver was quick-witted and known for his beautiful smile, huge heart, love for his family, and occasional sarcastic humor.
Oliver will be missed but never forgotten. His loss is immeasurable, so is the impact and love he left behind!
The Heath Family would like to sincerely thank the ICU medical staff at both the Fort McMurray Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and the Edmonton Royal Alexandra Hospital for the care and support given to Oliver during his hospitalization.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to All Nations Church Building Fund, Fort McMurray, Alberta.
