Obituary of Ruth Carolyn Hoffman
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ruth Carolyn Hoffman, 86, who passed away peacefully at Willow Square Continuing Care Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Ruth was born in Cochrane, Alberta, on June 18th, 1938. She was the second of five children and grew up in Terrace, BC, where she met her husband, Harold Hoffman. They were married on October 6th, 1960, and eventually made Kamloops, BC, their home.
Being a very crafty woman, Ruth loved to create special items for those she cared about. She would spend her time sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, quilting, baking, cooking, and gardening. When she had some time to herself, she enjoyed diving into a good book. In addition, she taught Sunday school and led Brownies and Guides when her daughters were young.
Leaving to mourn the loss of Ruth are her two daughters: Heather (John) Fournier and Charlene Hoffman; ten grandchildren: Timothy (Meghan) Hoffman; Naomi (Ben) De Ruiter, Peter, Anna, Thomas, Stephen, Miriam, Isaac, Matthew and Rhoda Fournier; two great-grandchildren: Juliana and Evander Hoffman; three sisters: Bertha (Gordon) Watmough, Mary Hoff, and Judith (Ken) Hoff; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Amdam.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Hans and Esther Amdam; her husband, Harold Hoffman; brother, Robert Amdam; nephew/godson, Alan Amdam; and brother-in-law, Max Hoff.
As per her wishes, no service will be held and cremation has already taken place through Robert Anderson Funeral Services Inc. Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband, Harold in Kamloops, BC at a later date.
SAFELY HOME
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
All’s so happy all so bright!
There’s perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief are over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
Did you wonder, I so calmly
Trod the Valley of the Shade?
Oft but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idle stand;
Do your work while life remaineth –
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh! The rapture of the meeting!
Oh! The joy to see you come!
In Loving Memory
Ruth Hoffman
