Obituary of William James Bruce
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Father, William Bruce, surrounded by his loving family at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, in Ft. McMurray, AB, at the age of 82. He was born and raised in Long Harbour, N.L., but moved his family to Fort McMurray in 1979. Leaving to mourn his children; Linda (Dave), Bill (Sylvia), Denis (Valerie), Wanda (Ford), Michelle (Sean), Rodney (Mary), Deanne (Randy), Peggy (Dave), 24 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, sister in-laws, Ida Bruce and Mary Lasaga, brother in-law, Frank Bruce (Jennifer) and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. William was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth Bruce, Mother and Father, Denis and Eleanor Bruce, Brothers; Denis, Felix, Anthony, Ned, and twin Sisters Mary and Catherine, a very special grandson Denis Jr. and great grandson Landon. After 29 years, Dad will now share eternity with our mother, Elizabeth, the love of his life. Dad cherished his time with his 8 children and beloved dog, Mitzie. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, cheering on his Blue Jays, all while keeping his political mind sharp by tuning into CNN and NTV news. Most importantly, he was able to oversee the events of his 60 plus loved ones, and made sure Mitzie had her boots, treats, and medicine. He was truly loved and will be forever missed, but we have peace knowing he will spend eternity with our loving mother.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 28th, at 11:30am, at St. John the Baptist Parish (3 Hospital Street, Fort McMurray). Immediately followed by interment at the Abasand Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we graciously ask for donations in William's name to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
