Obituary of Wesley Gerard King
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Wesley “Wes” King on March 17th, 2024, in Fort McMurray at the age of 43. Born on October 26th, 1980, from the town of Long Harbour NL, Wes's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and the strength of family ties.
Wes will always be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife Carrieann, and his three beautiful daughters Hannah, Mila and Jenna who were the light of his life. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories as a son to Kass and Gerard King and a brother to Bobbie (Blair), Steven and Jessica (Ken). His mother-in-law Marion, nieces Grace, Samantha and Rachael, and his close cousin Adam, will all cherish his memory, as will his aunts, uncles, and extended family members who were an integral part of his life.
To know him was to love him. From his childhood friends, neighbours, and work colleagues, Wes formed bonds that lasted a lifetime. While it’s impossible to list them all, he will always be remembered by his Fort McMurray family including Joel, Sherry & Jim, Stephen, Kirk, Daryl, and Reno who will miss his infectious laughter and the sense of adventure he brought to every gathering.
Wes was predeceased by his father-in-law and partner in crime, Tom, with whom he shared many cherished moments.
His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his role as a husband and father was the one he was the proudest of. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Wes could light up a room with his funny anecdotes and “true stories”. His laughter was contagious. Wes's loving nature and his talent for bringing joy to others will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In his professional life, Wes was as hardworking as he was in his personal pursuits. His work ethic was matched only by his generosity, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his expertise.
As we say goodbye to, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 23rd at Robert Anderson Funeral Home (190 MacAlpine Crescent #115) from 11:00 am to 4:00pm, where family and friends can come together to share stories, laughter, and to honor the man who made such a profound impact on so many. Wes's journey on earth may have ended, but the memories he created, the love he shared, and the happiness he spread will continue for years to come.
