I met Lorin one night in 1995 when I was asked to replace a guitar player for The Ratts a Rolling Stones Tribute band. I thought for a minute this was a mistake when I met Lorin for the first time. He was not impressed, thinking he was going to have to teach a greenhorn all the songs the night before the gig, and those who knew Lorin nows the he didn't mince words. Not only did we together elevate the band, we stole it from the leaders and started our own thing. I was in a 2 piece band for years prior and thought that this would be our best bet to not getting a real job and play music on a full time basis together on the road. Our first gig was the Prince George Hotel. The owner Ted thought Lorin and I were the Brooks and Dunn of Rock and Roll and gave us as many dates as we wanted. That led to gigs in Smithers, Quesnel, Terrace, Rupert, and Queen Charlottes on a regular rotation. The best times were when we were joined by Garry...a drummer who Lorin had called in from the old days to fill in what would be Loman Louie. We had the most amazing time together making music from Prince George to Thunder Bay Ontario and everywhere in between...we were truly brothers and to me the best time Ive ever had so far. Lorin was by far the most talented musician I have ever played with. His attitude to the music was a huge reason why we were loved everywhere we played. Lorin was a terrific human being. For a guy that had the most challenging child hood he was full of caring and kindness. I don't know if I could have ever dealt with the challenges Lorin lived with and respected him deeply on how he made a shitty situation a really great life of good friends and great respect. I lost touch with Lorin the past several years for reasons that I cant explain. Those who know Lorin, he was a very proud man who never ask anything from anyone and would never reach out. ...but Lorin was my brother, we made beautiful music together, we shared great times and I will never forget you. I love you my brother and I always will. If anyone ever wants to see Lorin at his best I have several videos of us playing on my You Tube page. Go to You Tube@TheTdfinch
