Na was truly talented in his craft, as well as breaking the barriers between teacher, colleague, and friend. He was not only an incredible teacher in the arts, but a mentor for life. He taught acrylics as well as following your passion, about form and leading with love, and did it all with a genuine kindness and desire for greatness towards everyone around him. He saw the best in those around him.
I’ve been a student of his for many years, and I’m so honoured to be able to say that. He brought me out of my shell, gave me so many opportunities to grow, and truly believed in my ability to accomplish anything from day one. He cared about each individual student, remembering little details of their lives and experiences. He taught me so much in and beyond the arts that I will be forever grateful for.

Na was one of the greatest teachers who impacted my life. His support, Love, and need to always go out of his way to help me understand art when I didn’t will always brighten any void I may feel. There will truly always be a hole in my heart for where he was.He was the reason I was able to grasp onto art In the first place because of his support and love that always managed to push me forward no matter what. The love I feel for him Is absolutely inexpressible In anyway, shape, or form.
The times I spent with him where short but undeniably the most golden and untouchable moments I have ever felt.He at some points even told me to never stop Skateboarding which when I say it breaks my heart in two.The respect he gave is the most wholesome thing I have ever received. The way be impacted my life is on its own is unrecreateable and beautiful.
Please be safe wherever you are.

I didn’t spend great amounts of time with him.
But the time I did was untouchable and golden.

Na had such a huge impact on my life. I am the person I am today because he always pushed me to do my best and to follow my dreams no matter how out of reach they seemed. I started taking art with him when I was 12 and then got the privilege to work with him when I turned 15. I’m now 19 and I still consider him one of my favourite people. He has always been so important to me and everyone I have met in university this past year knows his name because I’m not me without him. He was so encouraging and so positive all the time. He was also the best listener and I talked to him about many things. Working with Na not only brought me closer to him but he gifted me so many bonds and memories with all the other kids he taught. The best part of my weeks would be going to art class with him because I’ve never felt more at home. I have never felt as loved as I did in his classes, by him and the kids we taught together. My heart hurts that kids will never get to know him the way I do. He always told me he was so proud of me for pursuing nursing and for doing so well in highschool because he used to hate school so much when he was a kid lol. He also gifted me a portrait of me for grad and I’m so glad I get to keep something so special. He was one of the most thoughtful and kind people I’ve ever known. He had a bigger impact on me than I’m sure he even knew. No one will ever come close to the art teacher and man he was. He is such an inspiration and I will love him forever.

Mr. Na was a great teacher and was much more than that to me. I have been struggling to think of what this time of the year will be like without him. I will share one of my fondest memories, one of many. As soon as I would walk into his class he would ask "Axle, what's the joke of the day??" and would listen to my jokes intently and his laughter would make each visit worth it in just the first couple minutes of being there. His guidance and encouragement will be forever with me and I will miss him.

I first knew Na as a neighbor and friend. He was a loving and fun dad who always made time for his kids. He spoke highly of his wife, Heather, with deep admiration. Na arranged playdates, often played the guitar while his kids sang along, and loved painting their faces, sharing his artistic talents with them. My daughter, Feifei, enjoyed his art classes very much. He always gave her compliments and encouraged her to explore different art styles and find her own unique expression. Na, we will miss you! Your legacy will live on in the joy, creativity, and love you brought to everyone around you.

Mr. Na helped me not only through painting but through life. He inspired me to continue on even though it gets tough because when the painting is finished, life gets better.

I first met Na as an artist. Over the years, he generously shared his life as a dedicated family man (husband and then father), teacher, civic contributor, and proud Canadian. Always willing to share his artistic talents, he embraced the daily challenge to be creative and honest through his art. His role as a teacher and civic artist helped and encouraged his students and his patrons to share his vision of beauty. His art will continue to offer that beauty and so through his art Na my friend remains.
Rest in Peace my friend

While there are so many things that we loved and admired about Na, one thing that really comes to mind was just how much of a lovely family man he was, and not just towards his own children, but to ours as well. I remember when both of our families were together at Keith and Cathy's place on the lake. Our kids were all swimming, except for my son Clark, who had broken his hand and was not allowed to get it wet. Clark loves the water and was upset that he couldn't swim. Na took Clark up to the house and they painted together. Clark was so proud of the beautiful night sky he had painted and forgot all about missing out on swimming. Words cannot express how much he'll be missed. Our deepest condolences to Heather, Jasmine, and Manon.

It’s been almost 10 years I met Na. We are from Thailand and met here in Fort Mcmurray. He was like my younger brother. Words can not express the shock and sadness of the sudden loss of my good friend. Na was an amazing art instructor for my daughter Olivia and was a family man. He always brought joy every time we met. I am so grateful that he was a part of my life. We love you Na. You will be deeply missed.
Rest In Peace.

Mr. Na was there for me when no one else was. He believed in his students and always pushed us to be the best version of our selves that we could be. If it wasn’t for him I might not be standing here today. Thank you Mr. Na for being the man you were. Kind, generous and a downright wonderful human being. I’m so glad that I had you to mentor me.

My heart is sad for you all when I heard the news of Na’s passing. I so enjoyed having him in my classroom for an art lesson with the children when Manson was in my grade one class. May being surrounded by your family‘s love and sharing the fun times you had together keep him close to you all. I will pray for you all. Lana Pelletier
